Roof repairs approved to stop South Fayette municipal building leaks
The South Fayette Township Municipal Building will no longer be subject to surprise leaks once the roof is repaired in a few weeks.
The board of commissioners voted unanimously Sept. 21 to approve emergency repairs that would prevent rain water from leaking into the building in the administration area and near the room that contains the building’s servers.
The repairs will cost $28,250 and will seal the entire roof.
Township staff members expedited the repair process and bypassed putting the project out for bid because they felt the maintenance needed to be taken care of quickly before winter weather caused more damage to the building.
Also on Sept. 21:
• Commissioners voted to accept the proposed streets in the Fieldcrest residential development, but opted to table approving the streets in the Berkshires and in Granite Ridge until October’s meetings. There were concerns that the streets do not yet meet federal Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
• The board approved a resolution that will ensure the public library gets a 50-year lease on the land where it will be built as part of the submittal of a grant request for funding the new library.
