Research study
Have you recently started treatment for depression? The University of Pittsburgh is conducting a PROMIS research study focusing on depression in those age 60 and older. It is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
To qualify for this study you must be age 60 or older, started treatment for depression within the past 4 months, and agree to be interviewed on mood and health to see if you are eligible. Three visits will be required to complete computer questionnaires and interviews.
This is an assessment study only - no treatment will be provided, but participants will be paid up to $275. The study will continue enrolling participants until approximately June of 2011.

The Dormont AARP will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 in the Dormont Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Potomac and Espy avenues.

Dementia
Asbury Heights in Mt. Lebanon will present "Accepting the Challenge: Providing the Best Care for People with Dementia" 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13. Presenters will be occupational therapist Teepa Snow and Melanie Bunn, RN.
