Party to help pool Join Friends of the Dormont Pool from 8 p.m. until midnight Saturday, March 13, for a special St. Patrick's Day Party at the Dormont Recreation Center, located above the pool on Dormont Avenue. Learn about how you can get involved and help support a community cause. Nosh homemade dinner and baked goods from local establishments such as from Café J, Giovanni's, Armstrong's and Potomac Bakery while enjoying music from a local disc jockey and dancing. 'Bell, Book, and Candle'
Baldwin Players will present the comedy "Bell, Book, and Candle" March 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 at Baldwin Community U.M. Church. A spaghetti dinner will be offered at 6:30, followed by the show at 8 p.m. Have dinner and see the show for $22, or pay $12 for the show only. Call 412-884-8324 for details. Benefit concert
Renowned acoustic guitarists Ken Bonfield, Steve Davison and Tim Farrell will perform during "An Acoustic Evening" at Carnegie Science Center. The three will play country, blues, ragtime, folk, traditional Celtic, jazz, classical, contemporary, and even a couple of rock covers. The concert is at 8 p.m. Friday, March 12. Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History offers free admission from 3:30 to 8 p.m. every Thursday evening in March, thanks to the generosity of the Buncher Family Foundation. Seeking volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help sort and organize items in preparation of the 22nd Annual Salvation Army Fabric Fair slated for Saturday, April 10. Grand Classics at PSO

Guest Conductor Gianandrea Noseda returns to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) to conduct two BNY Mellon Grand Classics at Heinz Hall. • On March 5 and 7, at Heinz Hall, Pianist Jonathan Biss will perform Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 and Franz Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 56 in C major. • On March 11 and 12, music from Rossini, Mozart and Tchaikovsky will be performed. Living history

Woodville Plantation, Bridgeville, will host "A Day With the Nevilles" from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 7. Experience everyday life as it occurred at Woodville Plantation in the year of 1794 as costumed historic interpreters demonstrate period games, sewing, cooking and dining at the period-correct hour of 2 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children aged 6 to 12. 'Celebrate America'
WQED Pittsburgh will broadcast "Celebrate America" at 6:30 p.m. March 7. The show features high school music programs from across the state, including a performance by the Upper St. Clair High School Choir with nationally acclaimed composer Tim Janis. Janis is known for his "Music with a Mission" philanthropic projects with well-known artists and fundraising programs for PBS. Celebrate America was taped in October 2009.

 Jewish films

The United Jewish Federation will sponsor the following films at the Galleria in Mt. Lebanon: • "Eli & Ben" (Pittsburgh premiere), 7 p.m. March 8. The film is in Hebrew with subtitles. When Ben is accused of white-collar corruption, his 12-year-old son defends him at all costs, raising important moral issues for young and old. (Ages 12+) • "Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg," 2 p.m. March 11. This humorous story of Gertrude Berg, a television pioneer who paved the way for women in the entertainment industry, includes interviews with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, actor Ed Asner, producers Norman Lear and Gary David Goldberg, and NPR correspondent Susan Stamberg. 'Iconic Tonic'
Washington Community Arts and Cultural Center will hold its eighth annual Celebrity Performing Arts Night at 7:30 p.m. March 13 at the George Washington Ballroom in Washington.
