At Mirror Mirror On The Wall, the focus is on what kids need and want. Sarah and Amy Coyne, a mother-daughter team, opened the consignment shop in Bethel Park almost six months ago to sell items for children between the ages of newborn and the early teens. They have a wide selection of children's clothing, baby equipment, strollers, toys, shoes, videos, games, outdoor toys and a few surprises.
"We have almost everything that someone would need for a child from birth through the early teen years. Our business is growing, which is great," said Sarah. "We have two girls who make beautiful handmade hair bows, clips and headbands for us to sell. Amy is making Swarovski crystal jewelry, including mothers' bracelets and grandmothers' bracelets. We also carry bottle cap necklaces, which are popular but hard to find."
The women also offer higher end clothing for kids and have a selection of items from Oshkosh, Aeropostale, Abercrombie, Old Navy, The Gap and other well-known name brands.
"We feel that the consumer can really find great bargains here," said Sarah. 'We generally price things at about half the price of what retail items go for," said Sarah, who explained that each moth, selected items are reduced further in price by 25 to 50 percent. "New things come in all of the time. People can come in every week and find new items."
For consumers who want the store to sell items, Mirror Mirror On The Wall offers a 50 / 50 split.
"Right now, we're looking for outdoor items, like picnic tables, sand boxes and swings. We're also looking for high chairs and table booster chairs. We are not taking bicycles, but tricycles or ride-on toys are fine."
If you're looking for furniture or accessories for your home, you might want to head for Bachman's Consignment Furniture in Bethel Park. The store opened in June 2007 and came about as the result of owner Joyce Bachman's love for furniture and people.
Joyce has joined efforts with her son, Craig Huber, to create a place for consumers to find furniture, rugs, lamps and accessories for the living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining room and even the bathroom at great prices.
"We consider ourselves to be purveyors of quality pre-owned furnishings," Joyce said. We accept pieces that do not require an excessive amount of repair and we have everything from brand new pieces to antiques. At this point, we have a table and chairs that is from the late 1800s. We like solid woods and focus on the high end pieces."
Currently, Joyce is looking for curio cabinets, armoires, lingerie chests, computer desks, leather sofas and accessories, including mirrors, wall hangings, lamps with shades and vanity lamps. The store features room settings with red and gold wall colors, so that shoppers can get a feel for what a piece might look like in their own home.
Joyce confers with consigners on the selling price of the pieces that they would like to have sold. Delivery options are available for a fee and Joyce will also visit the homes of people who want to sell furniture to evaluate items.
"Every piece is individual," Joyce said. "Our inventory is over $100,000; however, we do not buy things outright. Our location is great, so we offer a seller maximum exposure. When you consign a piece of furniture with us, it eliminates the need for buyers and sellers to play phone tag trying to reach each other," said Joyce.
"It also eliminates the need for a seller to have strangers come to their home to look at furniture. Consignment is a very convenient, hassle-free way to sell a piece of furniture. This is a very inviting retail store and we accept credit cards for the convenience of our buyers."
