'FUNky Friday' offers women-only night of fun

Mardi Gras event
St. Gregory of Nazianzus Byzantine Catholic Church, Upper St. Clair, will host "A Pittsburgh Mardi Gras" on Feb. 6 in the church hall. Dinner, catered by Outback Restaurant, will be served at 5:30 p.m. Auctions, gaming, music and dancing will follow.

PreLenten luncheon
Peters Church Women United will host a free preLenten luncheon at St. Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church in McMurray on Thursday, Feb. 11.
Celebrate Living the Vision through Prayer, Outreach and Sisterhood will begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel, followed by lunch at noon in O'Brien Hall. Call 724-941-9406 by Feb. 5 to R.S.V.P. A Haiti collection will be taken.
Valentine dance
Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church, Green Tree, will hold its annual free Valentine Dance at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. Music will be provided by the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Dance Band. Refreshments will be available.
National radio program
The Journey Radio Program, hosted by Ron Moore, will make its national debut on Monday, Feb. 8. The half-hour program will be carried by the leading Christian radio broadcaster, Salem Communications. The Journey currently airs at 11:30 a.m. weekdays on Pittsburgh's 105.1 WORD-FM.
Broadcast messages include sermons from weekly preaching series, weekday and weekend seminars, and personal stories from church members.
The Journey is the radio ministry of The Bible Chapel. Pastor Moore has been the senior pastor of the Bible Chapel for more than 18 years.
Pastor Moore graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with master of theology and doctorate degrees. He and his wife, Lori, have four children.
Pancake supper
The men of St. David's Anglican Church, Venetia, will hold a Shrove Tuesday Pancake & Sausage Supper at 6 p.m. Feb. 16. Free-will offerings will be accepted and earmarked for the youth mission trip in July. Visit www.stdavids.us.com for details.
Day of Recollection
St. Valentine Parish Christian Mothers are sponsoring an Ash Wednesday Day of Recollection on Feb. 17. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. in Frawley Hall. Rev. Jacques Daly, a priest from St. Vincent's Abby in Latrobe, will speak at 10 a.m., followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Mass and ashes at noon.
