Campus Life ‘Battle of the Bands’



Campus Life and Bethel Park Recreation Department closed out 2009 with its annual Battle of the Bands, held at the Bethel Park Community Center.

The day began at 4 p.m. with bands warming up, completing sound checks and selling CDs and t-shirts to some of the 300+ fans who came out to show their support and cast their ballots for their favorite performers. The event was put on by local Campus Life programs from Bethel Park, South Park, Peters Township, South Fayette and Pittsburgh.

First Place:

South Park's "We Are Merely Moving Shadows" took first place. The band was awarded a Golden Maracas Plaque and five hours of recording time at Mr. Smalls Recording Studio, located in Pittsburgh's North Side. Members of the band include: Matt Azzolina of South Park, Bobby Nolte of Upper St. Clair, Austyn Nixon of Peters Township and Jordan Serra of Finleyville.

Second Place:



Finishing in Second Place and receiving a Silver Maracas Plaque and two hours of recording time at Mr. Smalls was Peters Township's "In Fine Print." Members include: Christian Petrozza, keyboard; Robby Ralston, Xander Browell and Matt Perryman, guitarists; and Austin Chappell, drummer.

Third Place:

South Fayette's "Far From Dreaming" won a Guitar World gift package.

Fourth Place (tie):

Bethel Park's "Juniper Space Station" and Pittsburgh's "The Edukators" tied for Fourth Place.
