Groups plan lenten dinners


Our Redeemer Lutheran Church

Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in McMurray will hold a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 13 through March 12. Bring a dish to share. Worship and Bible study will follow.

Bethel Park

American Legion

Bethel Park American Legion Post 760 will hold its fish frys from noon to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent. The menu includes fish, shrimp, pierogies, fries, hush puppies and clam chowder.

Gladden U.P. Church

Gladden U.P. Church in South Fayette will sell potato and cheese, and potato, cheese and jalepeno pierogies made by The Studda Bubba Pierogie Crew. The church is located at 755 Millers Run Road.

  • Frozen pierogies will be sold from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 15, 29 and March 14; from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays Feb. 16 and March 1, 8 and 15.

  • Fresh pierogies will only be sold from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturdays Feb. 16 and March 1, 8 and 15.

St. Anne Parish

St. Anne Parish in Castle Shannon will sponsor fish frys from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent. Baked or fried fish sandwiches and dinners, shrimp, crab cakes, haluski, pizza, macaroni and cheese and pierogies will be served.

St. Valentine Parish

St. Valentine Parish and School in Bethel Park will host fish frys from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Fridays during Lent. No fish fry on Good Friday. Fried and baked fish, shrimp, haluski, pierogies and kids' meals.

Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church

Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carnegie will kick off the Lenten season with a soup supper at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 13 and continuing through Holy Week in the Scheel Friendship Room, followed by a candlelight prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in Burry Chapel.

St. Benedict

the Abbot Church

Ben's Men of St. Benedict the Abbot Church in Peters Township will hold annual Friday Fish Frys. The dates for the Fish Frys are Friday, Feb. 8, 15, 22, 29, and March 7, 14 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in O'Brien Hall. On the menu are fish dinners, fish sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, Fr. Sam's Italian pizza, and soup.

New this year will be a Friday Fish Fry Lunch, which includes a fried fish sandwich, coleslaw and fries. Lunch will be take out only and will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be crafts and movies for the kids.

St. Patrick Parish

St. Patrick Parish in Canonsburg will host Friday fish frys during Lent on Feb. 8, 15, 22, 29 and March 7 and 14 in the school's cafeteria.

Lunch will be available 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Choose from haluski, fish sandwich or mac and cheese. Dinner will be served 4 to 7 p.m. Menu includes: fish dinner, shrimp, fish sandwich, fries, mac and cheese, dessert.

Bethany Lutheran Church in Bethel Park will hold the following:

n Lenten dinners - 6 p.m. every Wednesday during Lent with "Stump the Pastor" Bible study to follow at 6:45 p.m.

St. Mary's

R.C. Church

St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Cecil Township will hold fish frys Fridays during Lent, including Good Friday.

Lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; dinner hours from 3 to 7 p.m. Eat-in or take out available.

Menu includes panko breaded cod (baked or fried), homemade crab cakes, shrimp in a basket, jumbo shrimp, and pasta marinara.

Peters Township VFW

Peters Township VFW 764 in McMuray will sponsor a Lenten Fish Fry from noon to 7 p.m. every Friday. The menu includes fish, shrimp and pierogies.Takeout is available.
