Sweetheart skate

A Sweetheart Skate will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at the South Park ice rink. Couples may purchase one admission at regular price and receive a second admission free of charge. Each couple will also receive a carnation while supplies last.

Admission is $5 for persons 18 to 59 years of age and $3 for persons ages 17 and younger or 60 and older.

BBA sign-ups

Due to the inclement weather, the final registration date for the Bethel Baseball Association has been set for Saturday, Feb. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the municipal building.

Lebo lacrosse

The Mt. Lebanon Lacrosse Association will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Castle Shannon Firemen's Hall, 3600 Library Road.

Meals are $8 per person.

The evening will also include a Chinese Auction and raffles. Team Sportswear will be available for purchase, too.

Golf skills contest

A golf skills competition for juniors will be held from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15 at the RMU Island Sports Golf Dome.

Boys and girls, ages 6 through 15 will compete in different divisions for trophies and prizes.

Sand play, driving, outing, and pitching will all be tested to determine the champion.

SF swimming

Sign-ups for South Fayette swimming lessons will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 16 and 18 for residents only at the middle school pool.

Registration for the general public will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 20 and 27 as well as 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 23.

Late registration will be accepted after Feb. 27 until classes close.

Lessons begin March 16 or April 20 and are offered Tuesday and Thursdays evenings. Classes also are held Saturday mornings beginning March 20.

Classes are offered for pre-schoolers, ages 3 to 5, parent-n-tot, ages six months to 2, and learn-to-swim, ages 6 and older. Each session last 30 minutes.

Fees begin at $60 per swimmer with a reduction available for each additional member of the same family. Non-residents pay an added $5 fee.

SF rec swimming

South Fayette Aquatics offers the following recreational programs beginning March 8: • Adult swim--from 7:45 to 9 p.m. Monday and Thursday as well as from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. • Family swim--from 7:45 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. • Aquacise--from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. Monday and Thursday as well as 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays.

Lap lanes are available all days of recreational swimming.

Daily admission is $2.50 for adults and children, $9 for families and $3 for aquacise. Individual and season passes are available.

PT swimming

Registration for the Peters Township Learn-to-Swim program will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday Feb. 27 at the recreation center.

Sessions will be offered March 22 and April 12.

Classes last 30 minutes and are offered between 4 and 6 p.m. at the high school pool.

Swimmers must be 4 or older before March 1. Proof of age is required.

Fee is $85 ($90 for non-residents).

Class size is limited. Sign-ups are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

PT soccer

Feb. 28 is the registration deadline for Peters Township Soccer Association's spring session. After this date, sign-ups will be limited to space availability.

Players who participated in the fall do not have to sign up again.

Fees are $45 for those born between Aug. 8, 203 and July 31, 2005 and $55 for all older players. In-house family maximum payments are $225.

A birth certificate copy is required at registration for first-time players.

PT boys lacrosse

The Peters Township High School boys' lacrosse boosters will host its sixth annual bingo night Saturday, Feb. 20 at O'Brien Hall at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 120 Abington Drive in McMurray.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Games run from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for this adults-only event.

Bingo cards can be purchased separately for $30 per packet of 12.

In addition, there will be a silent auction and basket raffles as well as 50/50 all night.

PT spring training

A spring training camp for ages 6 to 14 will be offered from 1 to 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. Sunday, March 7 at the Peters Township High School stadium and gym.

Fee is $25 per person with a family maximum of $50. There is a $5 discount for those pre-registering on Saturday, Jan. 30 or Feb. 6 between 9 a.m. and noon at the recreation center.

The PT coaching staff and players provide instruction at practice stations, with emphasis on proper fundamentals of the game.

Free seminar

The Washington Hospital Sports Medicine Program will present a free seminar on the "Throwing Shoulder" at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center.

The seminar, presented by Allan Tissenbaum, M.D., Todd Franco, D.O. and Roger Marino, physical therapist, will review: common injuries that occur to the shoulder and elbow in the throwing athlete; throwing mechanics and the importance of an off season conditioning and throwing program to prevent injury.

SF fundraiser

Raffle tickets in conjunction with the Nathan Ostrowski Memorial Golf Tournament are available for purchase. Tickets are based on the Pennsylvania Daily Number. The winner is the ticket that matches the number drawn at 7 p.m. on the day of this year's outing, which is scheduled for Friday, June 18 at the Village Green Golf Course in Hickory.

The raffle is critical to the scholarship fund in Ostrowski's memory. To participate in the raffle, which generally pays out $2,500 in winnings, make checks payable to: The Nathan Ostrowski Memorial Scholarship Trust Fund, which is a 501© (3) charitable organization. Tickets are $5. Favorite ticket numbers will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis.

Players wanted

Mongoose baseball, a select travel baseball club, is looking for players for its 12U and 15U teams.

Teams play league games in the Atlantic Coast Baseball League as well as in tournaments, locally and within 2 1/2 hours of Pittsburgh.

SP roller hockey

The South Park Roller Hockey League will hold registration for its 2010 season from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday Feb. 27 and from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 6 at the South Park Ice Rink.

The season begins in April.

Teams are formed based on player's age as of Jan. 1, 2010.

Teams consist of Learn To Play, 10 & under, 12 & Under, 14 & under, 16 & under, and 18 & under.

Learn To Play is an instructional program for beginners, ages 6 to 12.

Players from the previous season receive a registration form via e-mail. They do not have to attend the sign up.

Fees are $125 for all age groups and $80 for Learn to Play.

New players should bring a birth certificate copy to registration.

Additionally, volunteer coaches are needed.

New members are needed for the Fairway Swingers Women's Golf Association.
