Geoffrey Burke, a junior in the College of EHD at Bowling Green State University, was named to the dean's list for the 2008 spring semester. He is the son of Richard and Sally Burke of Canonsburg.

Marques Parks, a senior in the College of EHD at Bowling Green State University, was named to the dean's list for the 2008 spring semester. He is the son of Ralph and Kimberly Parks of McDonald.

Katie Pietkiewicz, a junior at Slippery Rock University, was selected among 15 students to accept an award for Slippery Rock from The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance's Adapted Physical Activity Council (AAHPERD) at its convention, held recently in Fort Worth, Texas. Slippery Rock's program has been named the Adapted Physical Activity Outstanding Program of the Year for 2008, the only one of its kind in the state, which teaches students how to organize and manage physical and recreational activities for children and adults with disabilities.

A graduate of Bethel Park High School, Pietkiewicz is studying elementary/special education with a minor in adaptive physical education.






Westminster College's Black Student Union (BSU) hosted its second Spring Fashion Extravaganza recently in Orr Auditorium, with proceeds benefitting BSU's Kids Fund, which provides Christmas gifts to "adopted" children and their families.

Students models included: Emilee Stanford, daughter of Donald and Eileen Stanford and graduate of Baldwin High School; Jessica Miklosovic, daughter of Jacki Miklosovic of Canonsburg and graduate of Jamestown Area High School; Marilyn Magenis, daughter of Brian and Victoria Magenis of Eighty Four and graduate of Canon-McMillan High School.
