Robert N. Shogry, M.D., is the 2008 recipient of the St. Clair Hospital Physician Recognition Award.

With South Hills Cardiology Associates since 1992, he serves as co-chairman of the St. Clair Hospital Foundation Golf Classic and Gala and is a St. Clair Hospital Foundation board member.

A graduate of The University Autonoma De Guadalajara, Mexico, Dr. Shogry completed his internship, residency, and cardiology fellowship at UPMC Shadyside Hospital and is a member of the Allegheny County Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

Maria Lydon, a sixth grader at Keystone Oaks Middle School, won second place in the Allegehny County Health Department middle school enviromental poster contest.






The theme of this year's contest was "Global Warming." The winning posters are displayed at the Allegheny County Health Department's Web site at www.achd.net.

Tammy Singleton-English, owner of Singleton-English Law Offices in Upper St. Clair, has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh. She is a CPA and attorney who provides estate planning, probate/estate administration and tax services.

Dr. Claire Miller, principal at Streams Middle School in Upper St. Clair, has been honored by The Pennsylvania Middle School Association for making a significant contribution to middle level education. This distinction is not bestowed annually, but only awarded when someone has been determined to have merited the honor.

The Prudential Preferred Realty Route 19 South Office in Mt. Lebanon, managed by Mt. Lebanon resident Jane Compagnone, CRB, ABRM, received the 2007 PREA Round Table Award for being one of the top 3 offices for residential units with 41 to 75 sales professionals in the Northern Region of the Prudential Real Estate Affiliates network.

Carla Evans, director of environmental services at Canonsburg General Hospital, was recently honored with the Service Excellence Award from Aramark Healthcare during the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference in Atlantic City. She received the award as a result of a substantial increase in patient satisfaction scores. General Hospital contracts with Aramark for housekeeping services.

Evans is a resident of Baldwin Borough and has served at Canonsburg General Hospital since 2006.

The Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania 2008 Women & Girls of Distinction Awards Reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 at the Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh. Two South Hills residents will be among 14 others honored at the event, sponsored by the Eden Hall Foundation.

Lorrie K. Albert, Esq. of Mt. Lebanon will be honored in the category of Advocacy. She is Director of the Allegheny Bar Foundation and has supported and recruited pro bono cases for the under privileged in Allegheny County.

She has developed many programs that benefit women and girls, including Custody Conciliations. She has also helped victims of disasters and supported the needs of military personnel, veterans and their families, and in just two years recruited more than 250 attorneys to participate in these representations.

The wife of Craig L. Fishman, she has two children, Alyssa and Amanda.

Michelle Catherine Perry, a senior at Seton LaSalle High school and daughter of Daniel and Karen Perry of Pittsburgh, will be honored in the category of Girl Scout Spirit Award. A Seton LaSalle High School senior, she has been a Girl Scout for 13 years, earning her Cadette and Senior Leadership awards as well as her Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.

In addition to hosting "Daisy Tea" to recruit first grade girls into Girl Scouts, she has developed, organized and conducted activities for boy siblings to participate in while at Girl Scout Day Camp.

Perry also volunteers at Camp Redwing for the father/daughter weekends leading canoe runs and assisting with the archer component.

James W. Bentz, Esq. of Bentz Law Firm, located in Mt. Lebanon, was recently elected Chairman of the South Hills Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Raja, Computer Enterprises, Inc., Scott Township; Bobbie Rimkus, South Hills YMCA, Upper St. Clair; Ron Tuman, Ph.D., U. S. Services Academy of Bethel Park; and Mark Westfall, Giant Eagle, Scott Township.

Chamber Executive Director, Angie Kazmeraski marks her ninth year on the Board.
