Bike safety
Washington County Parks and Recreation and the sheriff's department will offer tips on bike safety and current helmet laws to preschoolers on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 6 and 7. PAN (Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists) will hold its 13th Spring Coin Convention May 2 to 4 at the ExpoMart. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Buy, sell and trade. Free admission and parking. Evening hike Washington County Parks and Recreation will sponsor a Pets and Pedometer Hike at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27 at Shelter 1, Mingo Creek Park. The annual Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh Race for the Cure will be held Mother's Day May 11 beginning in Schenley Park. Survivor parade begins at 7:50 a.m., 5K Run begins at 8:35 a.m. and 5K Walk and 1 mile fun walk starts at 8:45 a.m. A pre-race Pasta Power kick-off is set at the Spaghetti Warehouse in the Strip District on May 9 and 10. Campaign for pets
PETCO stores nationwide will collect donations on behalf of local animal shelters and rescue groups through May 4.
