Open studio

South Arts will sponsor open studio art at noon, Saturdays, May 10, 17 and 21 at Schoolhouse Arts Center, Bethel Park. Moderators will be available. With enough interest, a clothed model will be provided for drawing or painting.

Glass flowers

Pittsburgh Glass Center will sponsor a glass flower-making class 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11. Glass artists will guide participants through a hands-on experience twisting and pulling molten glass and sculpting it into a glass flower.

Little Lake auditions

Children and young adults interested in participating in Little Lake's Looking Glass Theatre for young audiences may schedule an audition appointment 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, or 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10.

Appointments may be made by calling Little Lake Theatre at 724-745-6300. The 2008 Looking Glass Theatre season includes "Granny Applebutter and the Ding Dong Wolf" directed by Little Lake's Artistic Director, Sunny Disney Fitchett; "If You Give a Pig a Party," a musical directed by Stephen Santa; and "The Adventures of a Bear Called Paddington," directed by Jena Oberg. Stage 62 performance

Stage 62 presents "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde Friday through Sunday, May 9 to 11 and May 16 to 18 in the Andrew Carnegie Free Music Hall in Carnegie.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. Call 412-429-6262 for reservations.

Free art demos

South Arts in Bethel Park will offer free art demonstrations during its spring show, "Primavera," as follows:

  • May 14 and 28, 11 a.m. to noon, Marilyn Palamara, acrylics;

  • May 29, 11 a.m. to noon and 2 to 3 p.m., Kathleen Brown Lokay, watercolors.

Crafters wanted

Applications are being accepted for crafters and artists for the second annual Rev Up and Roll Car Cruise and Craft Festival to be held Sunday, June 22 at the Allegheny County Fairgrounds in South Park.

Over 15,000 people attended last year's event with over 70 crafters and artists participating. Spaces are filling up fast.

Call for artists

The Mt. Lebanon Sunrise Rotary Club is accepting applications for artists to display and participate in the 7th Annual Art in the Park juried event that will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 4 and 5 in Mt. Lebanon Park.

The event features food vendors, live music, children's activities and more. Artisans from Pittsburgh and beyond will display their work.
