"The latest projects will replace aging and undersized pipe that dates as far back as the 1940s, ensuring that our customers receive quality, reliable water service for many years to come," said Dave Gumbert, Pennsylvania American Water manager of field operations, southwest region.

The company expects to complete the installation of more than 4,800 feet of water main during May in the following locations:

Canonsburg

Grant, Boyle and Gowern avenues - The company is replacing aging transite pipe and cast iron main with new ductile iron pipe, as well as installing two hydrants.

Lynncrest Drive - Crews are replacing cast iron pipe with new six-inch ductile iron pipe.

Peters Township

Thompsonville Road - Crews are installing 2,500 feet of 12-inch ductile iron pipeline and two hydrants to replace transite pipeline, which had reached the end of its useful life.

Old Oak Road at Oakwood Drive - The company is replacing cast iron water main with new 12-inch ductile iron pipe to address numerous main breaks.

Pennsylvania American Water expects final paving restoration for the projects to be completed by the end of July.

The company serves approximately 50,000 customers in Washington County. Pennsylvania American Water's latest investments come on the heels of last year's approximately $7.2 million in local capital improvements, which included replacing nearly eight miles of aging water main.
