Lebo teenager wins gold medal



Katelyn Walsh captured the gold during the Hershey Track and Field State Games held at Penn State University.

The 13-year-old Mt. Lebanon resident breezed to victory in the 1,600-meter run. Her winning time in the girls' 13-14 age group was 6:10.26.

Twenty-one competitors from Mt. Lebanon and three from Bethel Park qualified to compete in the finals run.

Other top Lebo finishers included:






n Sarah Rolfsen, 9, fifth in the 50-meter dash.

n Callie Gunzenhauser, 11, fourth 800 run.

n Caroline DeFrank, 13, third 800 run.

n Jessica Dunn, 11, fifth, long jump.

n Anna Su, 13, fifth, long jump.

n Kendall Beerman, 11, second softball throw.

n Samual Ressler, 9, seventh, 200 dash.

n Jackson Beerman, 9, fourth, 400 dash.

n Francis Jackson, 11, 800 run.

n David Konrad, 13, fifth, 800 run.

n Henry Taborski, 13, sixth, 1600 run.

n Ashley Burford, 9, provided the top finish for Bethel Park. She placed fifth in the softball throw.

Lebo's 4-by-100 relay team of David Konrad, Walter Konrad, Henry Taborski and Michael Yeckley, all 13, took third while its unit consisting of Todd Gunzenhauser, Max Davidson, Sam Rothschild and Brendan O'Brien, all 9, finished fourth.
