Police respond to fire at Bethel Park restaurant

Someone tried to set fire to Al's Cafe on McMurray Road, Bethel Park, between 3 and 8 a.m. Sunday, said Bethel Park police Chief John Mackey.

There was minimal damage and no injuries after an accelerant was thrown at the front of the building, Mackey said.

He said the fire burned out quickly. Assisting police were firefighters from Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Department. The Allegheny County fire marshal will investigate along with police.

A cleaning person was inside the building at the time the accelerant was thrown at the doors facing the parking lot that runs parallel to Clifton Road.
