Kennywood memories, hopes

It was sad to learn of the transfer of Kennywood from a family-owned amusement park to one which will be owned by a Spanish-based company. We all have memories of the park, whether formed when we were a child and not tall enough for a ride, or as an adult conquering our fears on The Racer roller coaster.

Despite the loss of the local ties, there may be a silver lining to this dark cloud. Anyone who has visited the West Mifflin park in the past few years realizes there are many updates that are needed throughout Kennywood. Some rides need to be replaced or improved. It is also not always as clean as similar amusement parks which attract even larger numbers of yearly visitors.

As we all realize, upkeep takes money and it seems as if the new owner has the financial resources to achieve this task. It is our hope they would do so with the same integrity as the previous owners.
