Do kind acts, instead of just talking
Well, it has been one month since the murders in Connecticut. Are we finished with the asinine, inane hashtag “26ACTS,” trending “26ACTSOFKINDNESS” or going viral and the rest of the uselessness?
To the young, are you still:
• Not cheating on your homework and exams?
• Not calling the neighbor girl fat?
• Not calling the star linebacker a stupid jock?
• Being respectful of your parents, all elders, all living things, including yourselves?
• Doing good when everyone around you is doing bad?
Not easy to do in middle/high school.
To the adults, are you still:
• Not cheating on your spouse?
• Not cheating on your income taxes?
• Not calling the neighbor woman fat?
• Keeping your business transactions honest and ethical?
• Doing good when everyone around you is doing bad?
Not easy to do in the real world.
To all of us, are we still volunteering at the food bank, homeless shelter, hospital, animal shelter, library, house of worship, etc.? The nice people at The Almanac provided plenty of suggestions in the Dec. 26 editorial. Might be a good idea to read that thoughtful editorial again; and then DO something, not just talk about it.
I will be checking back with you in five months, just to monitor our progress.
