Second grade students in Melissa Dewey’s room at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School in the Bethel Park School District are able to choose from a variety of options when they earn a Good Behavior Reward. Some of their options include moving to another seat in the classroom and receiving a homework pass. But by far, the most popular reward chosen by the students is Show and Tell, where they can bring something in and talk to their classmates about the object. Besides listening to the presentation, the students also have the opportunity to ask questions. Little do the second graders know, but show and tell helps them to develop their public speaking skills. Josh Woodman proudly shows off the geode collection that mysteriously appeared in his box of Legos at home.
