Veronica Latsko was chosen by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America to its 2012 high School girls’ All-America team. The Peters Township junior will be honored at the national luncheon Jan. 19 in Indianapolis.
The luncheon is held in conjunction with the 66th annual NSCAA convention, the largest annual gathering of soccer coaches in the world. The convention draws more than 10,000 coaches, administrators and soccer business professionals from across the country and around the world. It features coaching clinics, workshops and meetings and has the nation’s largest soccer trade show in a 100,000 square-foot exhibition hall.
A Virginia recruit, Latsko has scored 107 goals in three seasons and has led the Lady Indians to three straight state championships. A two-time WPIAL champion, she was also named to the all-state, all-district and all-section teams this fall. She is also a two-time Almanac MVP for girls’ soccer.
The Bethel Church Baseball League will hold registration as well as an ice cream social from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Bethel Park Community Center. Ages 4-17 are eligible.

CM youth baseball
The Canon-McMillan Youth Baseball Association will hold registration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 19 and 26 at the North Strabane Township Building and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Frank Sarris Library.
Ages 4 through 16 are eligible.
Registration for the Bridgeville Athletic Association’s spring baseball and softball seasons will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 17 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Bridgeville Borough Building.
All players that register on one of these days will receive an official BAA TPX Locker Bat Bag.
Boys and girls, ages 3-16, are eligible.
UPMC Center for Sports Medicine will hold the first of three Pittsburgh Marathon seminars at 10 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Ladies Hospital Aid Society (LHAS) Auditorium near the main, Terrace Street entrance at UPMC Montefiore. The topic is injury prevention.
The Feb. 9 session focuses on nutrition and hydration. Admission is free.
The third seminar is set for May 4, the day before the marathon, which is scheduled for May 5.

Registration for Bethel Baseball Association will be held 9 a.m.-noon Jan. 19 and Feb. 2 at the high school. Sign-ups are also accepted online at www.bethelbaseball.org.
Teams range from Tee-Ball through American Legion. Tee Ball Players must be five years old by April 30, 2013—no exceptions. All new players must present a birth certificate at registration.
Registration for the Upper St. Clair Swim Club’s small group lessons is being accepted.
Classes begin Jan. 19 and are held Saturdays at either 1:50 or 1:50 p.m. at the high school pool.
Fee for the four-week, 30-minute sessions is $67.50. Beginners through advanced-intermediates are eligible.
The Women’s Golf League of Mt. Lebanon is seeking new members. The group plays Tuesdays April through September at the Mt. Lebanon Golf Course. Membership is open to women of all skill levels, residents and non- residents.
