Another historical exhibit is coming to the Andy Warhol Museum. “Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years” runs Feb. 3-April 28 and features around 145 works of art in various media, including paintings, sculptures, photos and films. The premise of the exhibit juxtaposes around 45 of Warhol’s own works with nearly 100 works by other artists who reinterpreted, responded or reacted to his work.

For decades, critics have observer that Andy Warhol had an incredible impact on contemporary art, and this is the first exhibition to explore the full nature and extent of that influence. Featured artists include Deborah Kass, Alex Katx, Jeff Koons, Robert Mapplethorpe, Takashi Murakami, Cindy Sherman and more. The exhibit was organized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City

“‘Regarding Warhol’ is a first for Pittsburgh and The Warhol. Never before has such a world-class collection of masterpieces by the best contemporary artists of the past 50 years been assembled here, and we are thrilled to share these amazing works,” said Eric Shirner, director of the museum and curator of the exhibit. “Visitors to the exhibition will see first-hand how the artists included in the show reference, critique and celebrate Warhol in their own work, thus firmly establishing Warhol as the bellwether of the contemporary art world.”
