BP hoop clinic

Registration for the “Little Hawks” basketball skills program is being accepted.

The ball-handling clinic for boys in pre-kindergarten to fourth grade runs from 5 to 6 p.m. Sundays beginning Jan. 20 and Feb. 3 at the Bethel Park High School gymnasium. Fee is $40 per participant. Call 412-967-2442 or email mbenjaminoconnor@yahoo.com for details.

Players wanted

The Steel City Predators 17U is finalizing recruitment for the 2013 season, which includes winter training, twice per week at Bianco’s School of Baseball, advanced professional instruction, a local select summer league, and summer tournament/showcases. PT golf school

The Golf Coaches Association of Peters Township will offer beginner and intermediate golf classes for students in grades 3-8 who are residents of Peters Township from January through March.

Hoop Shoot set

The South Hills Elks’ Lodge #2213 will conduct a hoop shoot at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Bethel Park Community Center.

Boys and girls, ages 8-13, are eligible for the event, a 25-shot free-throw competition.

Two winners from ages 8-9; 10-11 and 12-13 advance to the district shoot in Braddock and if successful continue on to the state, regionals and finals, to be held in Massachusetts. For details, call 412-835-0733.

Latsko honored

Veronica Latsko was chosen by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America to its 2012 high School girls’ All-America team. The Peters Township junior will be honored at the national luncheon Jan. 19 in Indianapolis.

The luncheon is held in conjunction with the 66th annual NSCAA convention, the largest annual gathering of soccer coaches in the world. The convention draws more than 10,000 coaches, administrators and soccer business professionals from across the country and around the world. It features coaching clinics, workshops and meetings and has the nation’s largest soccer tradeshow in a 100,000 square-foot exhibition hall.

Latsko, a Virginia recruit, has scored 107 goals in three seasons and has led the Lady Indians to three straight state championships. A two-time WPIAL champion, she was also named to the all-state, all-district and all-section teams this fall.

Golf league

The Women’s Golf League of Mt. Lebanon is seeking new members. The group plays Tuesdays April through September at the Mt. Lebanon Golf Course. Membership is open to women of all skill levels, residents and non- residents. Call 412-496-4554 for more details.

Skating lessons

Registration is being accepted for the Mt. Lebanon Learn-to-Skate program. Classes start the week of Jan. 7. Cost is either $124 or $114 depending on length of lessons. Days and times vary. PT lacrosse

The Peters Township Girls’ Lacrosse Club will conduct a skills clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 in the middle school gym. Girls in grades 4-8 are eligible to participate.
