The final phase of a housing plan was put on hold by North Strabane Township supervisors this week pending the outcome on what types of recreational amenities homeowners want.
The final subdivision plan and final site plan for 31 single-family lots in the Summerbrooke development was tabled by the board.
The board is seeking additional information on the developer’s plans to provide recreational facilities listed in the original plan of the development off Poplar Street.
The master plan had called for a swimming pool and a clubhouse.
The developer, Ed Ganocy, said as each lot has been sold, property owners have paid $1,000 that goes into a fund to construct the pool and clubhouse. The plan was that once the development “build-out” reached 75 percent, the homeowner’s association was to take a vote on what recreation options they wanted for the area.
But Ganocy said current residents have had differing views about whether they want the pool or clubhouse built.
“It goes back and forth,” he said.
Supervisor Jeff Stanley said he wanted to see something definite before the final site plan is voted on. He suggested Ganocy get homeowners to either agree to the master plan or sign off if they don’t wish the pool and clubhouse to be built, after all.
The board voted to table the matter until its February meeting.
In other business, the board approved the final site plan for the Studio 6 Hotel on Houston Square Drive; approved the preliminary site plan for 32 single-family lots at Highcroft Preserve on Route 519; and approved a 10-year agreement between the township and the Frank Sarris Public Library Association.
The board also granted permanent employment status to firefighter Paul Shiring after he completed his probationary period.
The board scheduled a public hearing on an application for a proposed planned residential development for 52 single-family lots and four duplex units on 35 acres off McDowell Lane. That hearing will be held prior to the next board meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 19.
