Elizabeth Kline of Upper St. Clair won the women’s pentathlon title at the Big East Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet at the SPIRE Institute.

The University of Pittsburgh senior captured the school’s 10th pentathlon title in program history and the first since 2005 as she posted a career-best score of 3,927.

Kline won three of the five events, including the 60-meter hurdles (8.75), the 800-meter run (2:16.95) and the long jump (5.64m). She set personal records in all three events. She then reset her personal-best in the individual 60-meter hurdles as she qualified for the finals, securing sixth place overall.

The 22-year-old daughter of Eileen and Ernest Kline is enrolled in the School of Education, focusing on Early Childhood and Special Education. This past semester, she pulled down a 4.0 QPA.

Kline, who has a sister Jennifer and two brothers, Richard and James, was a standout track and soccer player while in high school. She was a WPIAL champion in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. She garnered all-state honors in the intermediate hurdles.

An Almanac Premier Performer, she earned Student of the Year accolades at USC, while also participating in National Honor Society.
