Kocjancic leads Lebo ladies
Julie Kocjancic led the Mt. Lebanon ladies during the Tri-state Track Coaches’ Association indoor track championships held at Edinboro University. She helped the Blue Devils capture the runner-up team trophy with 55 points.
Kocjancic recorded a 2:19.57 in the 800-meter run and qualified for the Pennsylvania state championship set for this weekend at Penn State. She also anchored the 3,200-meter relay team of Natalie Palmieri, Callie Gunzenhauser and Julia Staltari to a second-place showing.
Bea Goodyear placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles. Her preliminary time of 9.37 also qualified her for states.
In the mile run, Lebo placed three runners in the top six. Kelsey Potts secured second with a 5:10.31 time, while Audrey Gordon followed in fourth in 5:11.51 and Jillian Hunsberger took sixth in 5:18.55. All three qualified for states.
Potts also scored second in the 3,000-meter race. Her time of 10:28.74 met the state qualifying standards.
Anna Su finished eighth in the high jump.
Gordon, Aleighsha Gibson, Potts and Hunsberger combined for first place in the distance medley relay with a 12:49.35 mark.
The 800-meter relay unit of Julie Galante, Emily Griffin, Amelia Riccuiti and Erika Garrison placed fourth.
