Area residents will probably recognize the name Robert Isenberg – over the past 14 years, he has become the consummate Pittsburgh writer: journalist, playwright, travel-writer, author and critic. And on March 6, Isenberg will flaunt a new title: local filmmaker.

As part of the brand-new Screen and Be Seen series at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont, Isenberg will show a series of short videos, as well as his acclaimed 43-minute documentary, “The Trail.” Each video illustrates a different genre from Isenberg’s ever-expanding oeuvres – comic vignette, experimental short, gonzo documentary and feature-length travelogue. “The Trail” makes its first big-screen appearance since its January debut on WQED’s Filmmaker’s Corner.

Isenberg’s short nonfiction films celebrate outdoor recreation and Pittsburgh’s dynamic landscape. In such films as “Rock On” (about urban bouldering), “Pittsburgh Pavement” (road deterioration), and “Rapid Ascent” (aerobic stair-climbing inside the Cathedral of Learning), Isenberg trains his lens on improvised adventure in Western Pennsylvania. “The Trail” chronicles his six-day bicycle journey from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C., along the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal.

The one-night only screening takes place at 8 p.m. March 6. For more information, visit www.thehollywooddormont.org.
