PT student wins Mylan Specialty scholarship
Elizabeth Mamros of Peters Township is one of 15 students across the country to win a $2,000 scholarship in the Get Schooled in Anaphylaxis Challenge through Mylan Specialty.
Elizabeth, 15, is a sophomore at Peters Township High School and created an anaphylaxis awareness week featuring a different theme and activity each day.
“The week will make an impact on everyone in the school and help them to become more aware of anaphylaxis and its life-threatening consequences,” Elizabeth said. She is the daughter of Mark and Rita Mamros.
Her challenge is titled Take Time to Care, Make More People Aware of Anaphylaxis.
A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found the incidence of allergies increased 18 percent from 1997 to 2007. Anaphylaxis awareness is important as it is estimated that one in 13 children in the country suffer from a food allergy.
