Man charged in 2010 thefts in Lebo
A Bridgeville man, Zachary H. Gonze, was charged with three counts of robbery stemming from three incidents in Mt. Lebanon in 2010.
An arrest warrant was issued Feb. 7 and he turned himself in to police Feb. 8. Gonze was placed in the Allegheny County Jail on $25,000 bond, police said.
The charges involved three armed robberies in a about a two-week period in the fall of 2010.
Gonze, 26, of 3513 Chrismar Court, is charged with the armed robbery of a woman Sept. 30, 2010, at the ATM outside the PNC Bank in Virginia Manor Shops on Cochran Road.
The 64-year-old woman was returning to her vehicle at 9:48 a.m. when police say Gonze approached her holding a knife. He demanded cash, which she gave to him, and he fled on foot.
On Oct. 4, 2010, a 64-year-old man was robbed by Gonze after the man was returning to his vehicle at 3:55 p.m. after using the ATM outside Dollar Bank, also in Virginia Manor Shops, police said. The man said he was threatened with a knife. He gave Gonze the money, after which Gonze fled on foot, police said. The man suffered a small cut on his hand, believed to have occurred during the money exchange, police said.
A 50 year-old woman at first refused to give up her purse when Gonze approached her in the 600 block of Washington Road at 9:29 p.m. Oct. 15, police said.
After a struggle, the woman fell to the ground and released her purse when Gonze threatened that he had a knife, police said. He took the purse and fled west on foot on Cedar Boulevard, police said. The woman suffered minor abrasions on her hands and knees.
A preliminary hearing was held Feb. 28 before District Judge Blaise Larotonda where all charges were held for trial. Larotonda reduced Gonze’s bond from $25,000 to$1,000, 10 percent acceptable.
