A teacher in the Mt. Lebanon School District was suspended March 4 for allegedly having inappropriate communications of a sexual nature before and after a male student graduated from the high school.

Jason Greenawalt was removed from the classroom and was suspended.

An arrest warrant was issued March 7 claiming corruption of a minor, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility.

Greenawalt has taught at the high school since 2004 and was the choir director for grades nine through 12. He was also the musical director and oversaw choral activities.

Parents were notified of his suspension by letter March 7.

Greenawalt is expected to turn himself in to Mt. Lebanon police at 9 a.m. Friday in the offices of District Judge Blaise Larotonda.
