The Washington County Farm Bureau (WCFB) is conducting its 10th annual food drive to benefit the local food pantries of the Greater Washington County Food Bank, which currently serves 38 pantries and 4,500 homes.

“Our goal over these past 10 years has been to increase public awareness of both agriculture and hunger on the county level,” said Don Carter, WCFB Food Drive committee chairman. “During our collection, we place our emphasis on encouraging people to support their local food pantries. We want donors to be aware that food collected in Claysville or Prosperity, for example, will be distributed through the Claysville and Prosperity food pantries. To make that possible, we work with area businesses to provide collection centers all across the county, culminating at the WCFB-sponsored Ag Days, planned this year for March 22 and 23 at the Washington Crown Center.”

Confirmed Food Collection sites include: Heritage Public Library in McDonald, Cecil Township Community Center, Frank Sarris Library, Canonsburg General Hospital, Chartiers-Houston Community Library, Peters Township Public Library, McMurray Dairy Bar, Eighty-Four Agway, SpringHouse Restaurant, Trax Farms and The Country Store in Venetia.
