Bridgeville police are investigating two incidents that occurred in a 24-hour period involving three young girls and what are thought to be threats, said Bridgeville police Chief Chad King.

The first incident was reported March 11 and involved a letter being found in the front yard of a residence addressed to a specific person. The letter, King said, indicated the person writing the letter was watching the daughter of the resident and threatened to abduct her.

A second incident was reported at 2:50 p.m. March 12 involving two sisters who said they were followed walking home after being dropped off by the high school bus, King said.

The sisters reported a two-tone brown van was following them at the pace they were walking. When the sisters noticed the van, police said, they ran toward home and the van driver left the area.

The driver is a white male in his late 50s or early 60s with gray and white hair. He never spoke with the girls or threatened them in any way except for driving slowly behind them, keeping about 5- to 10-feet away.

King said he does not know if the two incidents are connected.

“It could be a coincidence, and with one incident you worry about it, but two in 24 hours, it’s time to make the public aware,” King said.

The police and the Chartiers Valley School District have alerted parents as a “precautionary measure.”

King said anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact police by calling 412-221-6052 during regular business hours, or by calling 911.
