PT council approves liquor license transfer
Peters Township has one new restaurant that requested the transfer of a liquor license, and another proposed new restaurant that requested a conditional use hearing during a council meeting April 8.
Council unanimously approved the request of the liquor license transfer from Stockdale to Fady Rama LLC for the newly opened Aladdin’s Eatery, 4080 Washington Road. The Middle Eastern restaurant opened April 1 and is one of six in the Pittsburgh area, the closest being in Mt. Lebanon. The restaurant specializes in Lebanese and American food, and will serve beer and wine. Liquor sales are expected to be about five percent of the business. During a public hearing before the vote, there were no comments regarding the transfer.
A conditional use hearing will be held May 13 on a request by Fiorentino Moscatiello for Fiori’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant at 3801 Washington Road, formerly the location of Parkvale Bank. The property is currently zoned Commerical-4, which permits sit-down restaurants.
In other action Monday, council:
• Awarded the paving contract to El Grande Industries, plus an alternate bid for East Edgewood Drive, for a total of $773,151, below the budgeted $1 million. Additional township streets may be added later as the township received more than anticipated liquid fuels money from the state, and Pennsylvania American Water Co. agreed to provide some funds to help pave Old Washington Road between Moccasin Drive and Thompsonville Road.
• Awarded a bid to NES Rental for $16,537 to purchase an indoor aerial platform to be used to change high lightbulbs in township buildings. Only one bid was received. Maintenance and training are included in the bid.
• Announced the location of a 7 p.m. April 16 joint meeting with the school board has been changed from the library to council chambers in the township building. The meeting is not expected to last longer than 90 minutes.
• Discussed a proposed natural gas drilling site in North Strabane Township that is about 3,000 feet from the lake in Peters Lake Park. Range Resources had filed an application with the state but no application has been made to North Strabane Township. The drill site is proposed to be near Lindenwood Golf Course.
Next regular meeting is 7:30 p.m. April 22.
