Each time third-generation builder Dan Ryan builds another new home, he continues a legacy of service and high-quality construction that began when his grandfather started building in Castle Shannon. Later, Dan’s uncle, Ed Ryan, founded Ryan Homes and his father, Jim Ryan, founded Ryland Homes. “Homebuilding, it’s in my blood, it’s what we Ryans do,” Dan said.

Born in Pittsburgh, Dan was seven when his father moved the family to Columbia, Md. In 1990, Dan Ryan began building homes, following in his family’s 70-year tradition.

Dan Ryan Builders is a privately-held large regional homebuilding company based in Frederick, Md., and current operations include 10 major markets in six states, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Dan Ryan Builders enters the Pittsburgh market in five new communities, in both the north and south markets. The Fieldcrest community in South Fayette offers single-family homes (low $200s), the Summerbrooke community offers townhomes in Canonsburg (high $100s), and the Georgetown Square community offers carriage homes in Cranberry Township (mid $200s). And, coming this spring and summer are the Links at Cranberry community, offering single-family homes and townhomes, also in Cranberry Township (high 100s, mid $200s), and Old Hickory Highlands, single-family homes in Jackson Township (mid $200s).

With the recent merger of Heartland Homes and Ryan Homes, Dan Ryan Builders sees an opportunity to serve the new home market in Pittsburgh through precise quality construction, flexibility to customer requests, and exemplary customer service.

Dan Ryan Builders has completed nearly 10,000 homes in more than 60 communities. In 2004, the company was named one of the Top 100 Builders in the country by Builder magazine, currently ranked 50th, and expected to move up when the 2012 rankings are released later this spring. The company is also a six-time winner of the Builder of Integrity Award.
