Cecil polling place change; workers for elections boards soughtPublished May 2, 2013 at 1:58 pm (Updated May 2, 2013 at 1:58 pm)
Voters in Cecil Township will be heading to a different polling place for the May 21 municipal primary.
Larry Spahr, Washington County elections director, said that instead of the Iceoplex in Southpointe, voters in Cecil Township’s First Precinct will be voting at the Tandem Connection, 5 Georgetown Road, Hendersonville. The building, which was previously known as the Old Henderson Shop, is at the corner of Georgetown and Morganza Road.
Spahr said there’s a possibility that local election boards may need some workers in North Strabane’s First Precinct, East Bethlehem’s First Precinct and in Long Branch.
North Strabane 1, which serves voters at the municipal building, 1929 Route 519, Canonsburg, has a judge, but may need clerks and inspectors. Workers also may be needed at some precincts in Washington.
If no election board members can be found within a precinct, they should reside in the same municipality.
Election board members earn about $100 for working a full shift, which lasts from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. The person returning voting machines and memory cards to Washington earns an additional $20, plus mileage for the trip from the polling place.
Spahr asked those interested in serving on election boards to call him at 724-228-6750.
A full complement includes a judge of elections, two inspectors and two clerks although, in some precincts, Spahr said the board has to get by with just four members.
