Canonsburg

The Renewed Memories concert scheduled for July 10 was rescheduled for 7-9 p.m. Aug. 7. The concert is part of the Town Park Pool Summer Nights Series. Admission is $3.

Cecil Township

Movie night will be held at 8:30 p.m. July 26. The movie “Brave” will be featured. The concession stand will be open and all proceeds will benefit the Parks and Recreation Department.

• The 26th Annual Cecil Township Fall Festival will be held 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sept. 28, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 29.

Green Tree

Green Tree recognizes the young talented professionals living in the borough are one of its most valued assets. In an effort to stay focused on this resource, the borough is forming the Green Tree Young Professionals group, to provide young professionals, ages 21-40, living in the borough an opportunity to make a positive impact on the community and themselves by networking with their peers through meetings, activities and events.

The GTYP encourages people from all lines of work to share experiences, leverage each other’s resources, and generate business.

Monthly sessions will include professional development roundtables facilitated by local experts, social gatherings and volunteer work.

Green Tree is seeking founding members to create a charter, organize group leadership and grow membership.

The group will meet the last Thursday of each month, with the first meeting tentatively set for July 25.

Houston

A new bridge to span Western Avenue is in the design/build stage, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The project will replace the bridge that carries Route 519 (Western Avenue) over a branch of Chartiers Creek. The bridge will be widened and the approach road will be reconstructed as necessary to taper into the widened structure.

Donegal Construction is the contractor and the estimated cost is $1,208,503. No estimated start date was listed.

McDonald

HaveLoch Commons, 105 Coal St., will hold a health fair and open house from 1-3 p.m. July 26. Tours of the senior apartment building will be provided and area agencies will offer free health information and screenings, including body mass index, glaucoma, oxygen level and blood sugar.

Farmers’ market vouchers will be distributed. Those who are eligible must be at least 60 years old and a resident of Washington County.

Proof of age and residency are required. There will be free giveaways and door prizes. For more information, call 724-926-3033.

Mt. Lebanon

The Paper Exchange will shred confidential papers at the Public Works yard at 1250 Lindendale Drive off of Cedar Boulevard, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 27. Cost is $5 per box with the first box free. Payment is with cash or check.

•The ULTRAparty will be held from 8 p.m.-midnight Aug. 3 on Washington Road. The street will be blocked off from Cedar Boulevard to Castle Shannon Boulevard. Attendees over the age of 21 may purchase beer after buying a $5 wristband. Music will be provided from Jimbo and the Soupbones.

Proceeds will go to the Accessible Lebo Fund for the purchase of playground equipment to be used by people with disabilities.

From 6-8 p.m. the same day, the ULTRA FamilyFest will be held in Clearview Commons, with family-friendly entertainment.

Pittsburgh

In July, Men’s Wearhouse is hosting the sixth annual National Suit Drive, which is the nation’s largest collection of business attire for men. The company is partnering with Capacity Developers Inc. – Suited for Work, along with 150 other nonprofits nationwide, to assist those facing unemployment in Pittsburgh and surrounding communities.

Individuals can donate their gently-used professional attire at any Men’s Wearhouse location through July 31. For every donation, Men’s Wearhouse will offer a 50 percent off coupon good toward the next in-store or online purchase.

Peters Township

The fourth annual Local Foods Potluck Dinner at the Peters Township Public Library will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 2.

The event is hosted by the library’s GO Green and Cooking clubs. Those who attend are asked to bring a potluck dish made with locally grown foods, or share some samples from their home gardens, plus a recipe. Upper St. Clair

Cozy campfire nights will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. July 27 and Aug. 31 at the Outdoor Classroom Learning Lab. The event is family-friendly. The fee is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four.
