The Dance Conservatory of Pittsburgh and Accelerando Music Conservatory are hosting North Strabane’s first Performing Arts Festival, 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at North Strabane Town Center, 2510 Washington Road, Canonsburg. The festival is a celebration of the space merger between The Dance Conservatory and Accelerando Music Conservatory.

“Being able to combine resources for the greater community is truly something worth celebrating,” said DCP Codirector Mariah McLeod “We believe merging with Accelerando for our second location will provide an avenue for students that is unparalleled and will foster creative growth for the professionals through collaboration.”

The Fine Arts Festival will have performances from H2O Contemporary Dance, The Pillow Project, a drum circle and dance improvisation by local professional dancers, as well as showings from the pre professionals of both schools and more.

Christina Chirumbolo, owner of Accelerando, started her adventure five years ago when a few students were bored with all the available arts education in the community. She combined brain power with friends and colleagues from her alma mater, Carnegie Mellon University, and made it her mission to create a safe ”home” for lovers of the arts; both young and old.

The Dance Conservatory of Pittsburgh has been providing outstanding dance education for 10 years at its Willow Avenue location in Castle Shannon and is eager to add the second location in Canonsburg. In addition to founding and housing both professional and pre-professional performance companies and creating apprenticeship opportunities for high school seniors, The Dance Conservatory also is a home to local professionals for further education and acts as a springboard for recent college graduates.
