At a July 24 continued meeting of the South Fayette Township Board of Commissioners, the township’s bond council, Wayne Gerhold updated the board on what could be done with the funds the township received from the sale of a portion of the Star City property to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

The township closed on the property earlier this summer. UPMC paid $1.65 million for the 2.6 acre property.

“We have to have a public hearing,” Ryan Eggleston said about the matter.

The board voted to schedule a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14 , prior to the commissioners’ regularly-scheduled workshop meeting.

Eggleston said there are several options for how the funds could be used. He said a portion of the sale could be utilized for either a new civic center, retirement of other debt or any sort of capital project.
