Hats on the Catwalk

Allegheny General Hospital will host Hats on the Catwalk, a celebration of breast cancer survival, at 5 p.m. Oct. 15. WTAE-TV’s Sally Wiggin will be master of ceremonies. The 2013 Ford Warriors in Pink Quilt, made by volunteers, will be presented to AGH. At 7:30 p.m. cancer physicians will model festive hats designed by survivors and friends.

Peace at Home

Domestic Violence Services will host its Peace Begins at Home dinner Oct. 16 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Meadow Lands. Cash bar at 6 p.m.; dinner at 7. Tickets are $60. For details, call 724-223-5481.

CCFA Halloween party

“Howl at the Moon,” a fundraising event to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, will be held 7-11 p.m. Oct. 19 at The Mattress Factory art museum, Pittsburgh.

The venue will be open to the night sky for an indoor/outdoor experience to celebrate the full moon and Halloween. Enjoy live music, appetizers, snacks and open bar. Tarot, rune, palm and crystal readers will be available to guests, along with other games and surprises.

Attend in costume as prizes will be awarded in multiple categories at 10 p.m. A silent auction and raffle will also benefit CCFA.

All-Night tickets (7-11 p.m.) are $125 per couple and include heavy appetizers. Witching Hour tickets (8 p.m. admission) are $100 per couple. Group and student rates (over 21) are also available, and tickets are on sale at the chapter’s website at or by phone at 412-823-8272. Attendance is limited to 300.

Bunco fundraiser

The Dicey Chicks, a Pittsburgh-based group, will host its fourth biennial Roll for a Reason Bunco Oct. 19 in the Fellowship Hall of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair. Proceeds benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

Roll for a Reason consists of three games of Bunco, separated by 20-minute intermissions for players to enjoy the dessert bar and participate in the basket raffle. For participants who have never played Bunco, the rules will be reviewed. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Play begins at 1:30. Registration is $20 per person before Oct. 5, and $30 per person after Oct. 5.

Spaghetti dinner

The Rotary Club of Bethel Park will hold a spaghetti dinner 2-7 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Bethel Park Community Center on Park Avenue.

Pasta and desserts provided by Pasta Too and Bethel Bakery. There will be a $1,000 prize raffle and a silent auction.

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $9/adults, $7/seniors and $4/children, or purchase at the door for $1 more.

Pooch Parade

Myasthenia Gravis Association’s Pooch Parade will take place Oct. 27 at the South Park Ethelbert Shelter, near the doggie park and gazebo. Registration begins at 9 a.m.; walk begins at 10. Raffles for gift baskets, Steelers tickets and vacation, Halloween costume contest and vendor tables for dog lovers are included.

Fee of $25 for one walker and one dog will inclue a T-shirt, goody bag and doggie bandanna. Add $10 for second dog. Fee for walkers without dogs is $15.

ToonSeum fundraiser

The Toonseum, Pittsburgh, will host its annual fundraiser Ka-Blam V: Attack of the 90s on Oct. 26 at the former Saks Fifth Avenue building. A VIP reception starts at 6:30 p.m. with general admission at 8.

This year’s theme is Attack of the 90s which will be a throwback to the 90s era. The theme coincides with the ToonSeum’s fall exhibit, All That and a Bag of Chips: The 90s animation Renaissance.

With throwback jams from 90s artists such as Smashing Pumpkins, C & C Music Factory, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Salt & Pepper, this is not an average fundraiser.

The evening will include entertainment, activities, special surprise guests and complimentary treats and beverages. Tickets are $45 for single tickets and $80 per couple. Students with current I.D. pay $30. VIP tickets, which include a reception, goodie bag and special entertainment, are $120/single and $200/couples. Must be 21 to enter. All proceeds benefit the ToonSeum.

Garbage Bag Gala

The Salvation Army will hold its Garbage Bag Gala 6-9 p.m. Nov. 1 at Fairmont Pittsburgh.

Benefitting the Family Caring Center, the event will include a “trash-wear” couture fashion show, silent auction, Waste Basket Winners, and appetizer buffet and cash bar.

Attendees can create their own “trash-wear,” come business casual or take advantage of on-hand stylists.

‘Caring for Kids’

The Jerome Bettis Bus Stops Here Foundation will host its “Caring for Kids” fundraiser for the children of Pittsburgh on Nov. 6 in the Main Ballroom at The Rivers Casino.
