With a majority of the precincts reporting before 11 p.m. Nov. 5, there were few surprises, with the exception of the race for mayor in Bridgeville. Republican Pasquale DeBlasio defeated Mayor Donald Dolde with 53.41 percent of the vote.

In the race for school director in the Bethel Park School District, there were four seats up for election and six candidates. Capturing the top four votes were Connie Ruhl, Cindy Buckley, Russ Spicuzza and Pamela Dobos.

In Washington County, five candidates were vying for four seats on the Peters Township School Board with Jamison Hardy, Lisa Anderson, Rebeccca Bowman and incumbent Sue Smith coming out on top. On Peters Township Council, all of the candidates ran unopposed. The only newcomer will be Meghan Jones Rolla, who was the only candidate nominated to fill the seat vacated by the untimely death of Robert Atkison.

In Allegheny County, four candidates ran unopposed for four seats in each of the Upper St. Clair, Mt. Lebanon and South Fayette school districts.

The race for tax collector in South Fayette was too close to call with Republican Anne Friday Beck pitted against incumbent Democrat Kevin Biber.

Bill Peduto easily defeated Republican Josh Wander by more than 84 percent of the vote to become the next mayor of Pittsburgh.

Sue Means of Bethel Park, a Republican, was unopposed in the race for County Council in District 5.
