Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, along with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, are celebrating Light Up Night by combining two Pittsburgh traditions on Nov. 22. Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes, a family-friendly event, will bring “The Nutcracker” ballet to Phipps. Performed by a cast of pre-professional students from the PBT School, a sampling of ballet vignettes – including the Sugarplum Pas de Deux – from “The Nutcracker” will give guests the chance to see the next generation of professional dancers. Two sessions of Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes will be offered, with performances at 6 and 7:30 p.m. A meet-and-greet with the Sugarplum Fairy and other costumed dancers will conclude each show with photo opportunities for children and families. Registered guests can also explore Phipps’ gardens and stop by the café throughout the evening for wine and other fare. Tickets are $25.75 for adults and $12.75 for children, which includes a 50 percent off ticket to attend PBT’s full-length performance of “The Nutcracker” at the Benedum Center. To make reservations, call 412-454-9107 or visit www.pbt.org/events.
