For many little girls, the thought of meeting their favorite Disney princess is at the top of their wish list. More than 50 girls had that opportunity April 5 at a fundraiser held at Holy Child School in Bridgeville. Money raised will go toward Team Mahalo of the Peters Township Relay for Life.
The girls who attended not only dressed up like their favorite princess, they were also treated like one – the girls got the royal treatment, with hairdos, makeup and manicures, from more than 20 volunteers. They also made their very own wands and snacked on cookies and princess “tea,” which was pink lemonade.
This year is the second year for the tea party, said organizer Cindy Valent. Last year’s event raised about $700.
“We’re way beyond that this year. We have 17 more kids than last year,” said organizer Julie Chabala, who works at the Disney store.
Five Disney princesses, including Cinderella, Jasmine, Belle, Snow White and Elsa from “Frozen,” attended the event and all the little girls had the chance to meet them and get their autographs.
Volunteers styled the girls’ hair in braids and topped the hairdo with glitter. Glitter was also used to top the girls’ manicures and decorate their magic wands.
Valent, who works at Holy Child, said the one-hour tea party raised about $1,100 for Team Mahalo. Peters Township’s Relay for Life will be held June 14.
