Keep development away from Forest Lawn Garden CemeteryPublished Jun 16, 2014 at 2:21 pm (Updated Jun 16, 2014 at 2:21 pm)
As a lifelong resident of Peters Township, I am appalled by the proposed sale of 24 acres of Forest Lawn Garden Cemetery to a building contractor. Having an upscale plan of homes right on the edge of the cemetery land has the potential to create many future problems. The roads and lake in the cemetery will most certainly be a very tempting playground for the children (and adults) in the new development. Those who wish to pray or mourn for loved ones will have difficulty finding peace in which to do so.
I sincerely hope that the township council will deny this proposed development and keep this beautiful, pristine land as a cemetery, according to the original commitment stated in Forest Lawn Garden Cemetery’s concept for this property. I’m sure thousands of people who own plots in this cemetery, or have loved ones buried there, will appreciate a decision to deny this proposed development, and maintain the peaceful atmosphere.
