Red line T service was temporarily shut down and two people were taken to St. Clair hospital after the car they were riding in collided with a T train in Castle Shannon.
Port Authority spokesman Jim Richie said the female driver and the male passenger were trapped inside as the T pinned their vehicle against a guide rail after the accident at 11:25 a.m. at the Arlington T Station crossing.
“Emergency crews ultimately had to cut the two out, and the female was taken to the hospital in an ambulance,” Richie said
“The male accompanied her in the ambulance. Both were able to walk away from the accident.”
Red line service reopened at 12:10 p.m., he said
“Port Authority police and Castle Shannon police are investigating ... there's a signal there at that stop, but it's still too early to tell who's at fault.”
No word on the extent of the two persons' injuries.
