PennDOT is announcing single lane closures starting July 24 in Collier, Scott and Robinson townships along a nearly five mile stretch of I-79 between Bridgeville and Campbells Run Road.
As crews conduct milling, resurfacing and bridge deck sealing work, traffic will be restricted to a single lane from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday nights. Traffic will also be limited to two lanes between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., in addition to 5 a.m. to 6.a.m.
On weekends, PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said traffic will again be reduced to a single lane from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. Then two lanes will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Cowan said work would not begin until two hours after the end of any Pirate or Steeler game.
Additionally, crews will be doing milling and resurfacing work on the Heidelberg/Collier interchange ramp (Exit 55) and the Carnegie interchange ramp (Exit 57).
The work is expected to be finished by the end of September.
