Edkins adds to the mix
Though only a freshman, Olivia Edkins has played a key role in Seton La Salle’s lacrosse success season as much as captains Sarah Farnan and Cassidy Trautman have.
The Bethel Park resident has fired in 47 goals and notched 21 assists. Both are freshman team records.
“With her speed and scoring touch, she forms as a good a 1-2 punch with Sarah as any we have had in school history,” said SLS coach Brian Klisavage. “It’s a thrill to watch when they are working together.”
Between the pipes, Mikaela Staranko has been “a rock” for the Rebels. “She’s calm under pressure,” Klisavage said.
The sophomore has a save percentage over 50%, which Klisavage says is “excellent” for this sport. She had 11 saves in a key victory, 11-9, at Quaker Valley on May 7.
Other starters that have contributed to SLS’s section title and 11-5 regular season have been: defenders, Cameron Trautman, Sarah Milcarek, Meredith Blamer and Chloe Lestitian; and attack players: Madison Eidemueller, Margaret Rodgers, Julia O’Rourke and Tori Panian.
“The attack players have confidence and can go to goal,” Klisavage said, “and the defenders are a solid unit that takes pride in shutting down the other team.”
