The students and staff at William Penn Elementary School in the Bethel Park School District raised $1,300 in one week for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The fundraiser was held in honor of Penn Second Grader Landen Garfold, who has Juvenile Diabetes. Students were encouraged to bring in donations for one week, and on Friday, they wore their favorite hat to school to “Put A Cap On Juvenile Diabetes” and participate in a Walk-A-Thon during lunchtime recess. The event was coordinated by Penn Fourth Grade Teacher Kathryn Clifford.

Holding a sign to show their support for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation are William Penn students (front row, left to right): Hunter Cook, Sophia Zeglowitsch, Rachel Rhodes and Sydney Miller; (back row, left to right): Jude Nelis, Nora Cooley and Haley Walters.
