Bethel Park woman marks 101 years
Helen Baxendell will celebrate her 101st birthday on Sept. 15 at the Baptist Home in Castle Shannon. Dean Martin (Bob Morelli) will entertain family and friends at 2 p.m. in the first floor activities room.
Mrs. Baxendell was born on Sept. 15, 1917, in Pittsburgh.
Her husband is the late Earl Baxendell, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage until his death in 1989. Helen and Earl lived in Allentown before moving to Jamestown after Earl’s retirement.
The couple have two children, Bob (Linda) Baxendell of Bethel Park, and the late Sandy Baxendell.
Their grandchildren include Brian, William and Douglas, and William, Wendy and Doug. Their great-grandchildren include twins Jake and Tony and sister Bella, Devon, and Alex and TJ.
Mrs. Baxendell was a homemaker. She became a hairstylist later in life, setting up a beauty shop in her home for friends and neighbors. She loved to host parties and was an excellent cook.
