Henry – 100 years

Concordia of the South Hills Personal Care resident Jean Morris Henry celebrated her 100th birthday on March 28.
Born in Castle Shannon, she lived in Bethel Park until 13 years ago when she moved to a retirement living apartment at Concordia. She and her late husband Jack were married on July 5, 1940 at Westminster College in New Wilmington and had three children – Annabelle of Virginia, Dave of Green Tree and Jackie of South Park.
She has four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She worked in Henry’s Cigar Store in Beaver Falls and as a teacher’s aide in preschools for children with special needs in the South Hills. During World War II she had a maritime commission in Washington, D.C. Jean still enjoys playing bridge, rummy and 500.
The staff at Concordia knows her well as she attends activities every day. They find her to be social, humorous, clever and quick-witted.Her secret for living 100 years — “Be kind to people and hard working inside and outside of the home.”
