Bethel Park farmers’ market opens May 3

The Bethel Park Farmers’ Market kicks off another season May 3 at the South Park Ice Skating Rink parking lot along Corrigan Drive.
The market runs from from 3 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday through September, rain or shine.
According to BP assistant recreation director Cathy Muscato, the farmer’s market was voted by the Pittsburgh City Paper as No. 3 in 2020 and No. 2 in 2021. It made The Almanac’s top three as well.
Upwards of 50 vendors will participate in this year’s market.
“Most of our vendors from last season are coming back along with many new ones,” said Muscato. “This year we’ll also have more options for people with food sensitivities and more vendors with organic and ethical, regenerative farming practices.”
Lindsey Sibert joins the market team this season as coordinator.
A new market coordinator was also hired this season.
“Lindsey brings a lot of fresh energy and ideas to the market, having been a regular shopper in the past,” said Muscato. “We are looking forward to having Lindsey on board.”
Sibert has shopped the farmers’ market consistently with her husband and three young sons. While her husband grew up in the area, Sibert has been a Bethel Park resident since 2015. A New Jersey native, she lived in California for eight years before settling in Pennsylvania.
“I love being active with my kids, getting out and exploring. And, one of the things we love is visiting farmer’s markets,” Sibert said. “My family and I have frequented them since we lived in California, and I enjoy trying new recipes with fresh, local produce.”
Initially, Sibert plans to garner feedback from customers and vendors regarding the market.
Additionally, she is also looking to create a newsletter where she could incorporate what vendors are offering each week as well as monthly meal plans. She’s also considering a stamp card for frequent shoppers.
“I’ll be trying to come up with ideas to get shoppers more involved and try vendors that they maybe wouldn’t have before,” said Sibert.
The Bethel Park Farmers’ Market continues to receives support from The Bethel Park Community Foundation.
“The foundation has been instrumental in our success,” said Muscato. “Their willingness to assist whenever asked has been incredible. We truly appreciate them.”
