HARMONY SINGERS

The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh will present “Countdown to Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and at 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at Brightwood Christian Church, 5044 West Library Ave. in Bethel Park. The hourlong holiday concert includes a mixture of joyful, sacred and secular holiday songs. Cynthia G. Pratt directs. Admission is free and open to the public, but a free-will offering will be accepted. The Harmony Singers are available to perform for civic, social, church, or business organizations. HOUSE CONTEST

Peters Township is conducting a holiday lights decorating contest. All homes in the township are eligible to compete. Judging will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 20. Participants must register in person at the community center or online by visiting www.peterstownship.com. For more details, call 724-942-5000.

HOLIDAY MUSIC

The Jubilee Ringers from the Trinity United Methodist Church will perform holiday music from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Peters Township Library, located at 616 East McMurray Rd. All ages can attend. No registration is required.

CHABAD EVENTS

Chabad of the South Hills will hold its Chanukah Festival at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Dormont Pool parking lot. The event features lively music, an eight-foot LED robot, photo booth, fire truck gelt drop, latkes and doughnuts. Admission is free but one must RSVP to enter in a raffle. A car menorah parade will also be held Dec. 7. Meet at Chabad at 4:15 p.m. The parade begins at 4:30 p.m. with the menorah lighting at 5 p.m.

SHCC CONCERT

The South Hills Children’s Choir will hold a winter concert “What Sweeter Music,” to be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visit shcchoir.org for more details on the event or to join the youth chorus.

NUTCRACKER

The Nutcracker will be performed at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 16 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 10 and 17 at the Carnegie Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $22 for adults and $20 for students and seniors. BP CONCERT

The Bethel Park Community Foundation’s annual Dean Streator Holiday Concert will be held at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at the community center. Community Band South, Bethel Park High School’s Top 21 chamber choir, and the Handbell Ringers of Southminster Presbyterian Church will perform seasonal favorites without intermission. Admission is free but donations are accepted to support the work of the Bethel Park Community Foundation.

LADIES NIGHT

Peters Township parks and recreation will hold a ladies night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13 at the community center. Ages 18 and over will make a cinnamon stick vintage holiday sign to their holiday home decorating. Fee is $10 ($15 nonmembers). Sign-up deadline is Dec. 8. JAZZ CONCERT

A jazzy little Christmas concert with dessert will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 at Crossroads Ministries Church located at 81 Walter Long Rd. in Finleyville. Ernie Haase & Signature Sound will perform selections from their collection of songs, including those from a production named among the Best Christmas albums in 2019. BLUE CHRISTMAS

Fairhaven United Methodist Church will hold Blue Christmas for those feeling somber about the holidays. The quiet service featuring seasonal readings, soft music, candle lighting, prayers, quiet carols and time to remember and reflect will be held at 7 P.m. CAROL FESTIVAL

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 17 at St. Bernard Church on Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon. An organ prelude begins at 3:40 p.m. Choir members, handbell ringers and instrumentalists will participate in the concert that will feature timeless readings from Scripture illuminated by fitting anthems and familiar carols. AARP

AARP chapter 3016 meets the second Thursday of the month year-round at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1148 Greentree Road. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with light refreshments served. Anyone over 55 can attend.

WEIGHT LOSS
