Oakes, Consolmagno named president, VP of Bethel Park Council

John Oakes

After a recent Bethel Park Council reorganization meeting, Ward 3 Councilman John Oakes has been named president and Ward 1 Councilman Joe Consolmagno is now vice president.
“This new leadership team includes two individuals who have a great interest in the well-being of the community and have been wonderful mentors and leaders to work with in my first couple of months,” said municipal manager Kristen Denne.
Oakes, who’s been on council since January 2022, has lived in Bethel Park for over 12 years.
A Bethel Park resident since 1985, Consolmagno is currently the most tenured member of council, getting his start in 2016.
Both men spoke about the good relationship members of council have with one another.
Some of the upcoming projects council is working on include the opening of the new Splash Park and pickleball courts this spring as well as having solar lights installed at a crossing near the Montour Trail. Council also looks to continue the outstanding relationship that the Bethel Park School District and municipality share as well as help with the navigation through the new Waste Management contract for residents.
